Review: Phillips Milk of Magnesia

Hey Beauty Lovers! As you can tell by the title it's Review Time again and the review today is on Phillips Milk of Magnesia. Now if any of you are beginners and don't know that much about makeup you might be thinking "Why are you putting stomach medicine on your face, that's just weird" Well that's what I thought at first to but then I started checking out more and more reviews on this products and found that a lot of people love it as a Oil control method. Some people are totally against the idea of using a product for your stomach on your face but HEY if it works why not, products have many functionalities. Some enough about me rambling lets get into the review.

Overall, I would say that I am a firm believer that this product works very well for oil control. I went from having to blot my face or apply powder at least 3-4 times (during a 8 hour day) to only having to blot once a day. Now while result may vary depending on how oily your skin maybe I think this product will definitely help to eliminate most of the shine that you have during the day. I love that I can put on a full face of makeup and go about my day not having to worry about looking in the mirror to make sure my skin is not dripping in oil. I would really recommend this product to anyone with oily skin. One concern that some of you might have is if it will irritate your skin or cause breakouts. I can't answer this question for certain since every one's skin is different but for me I have not experienced any breakouts or irritation with this product. Another bonus that I love is that it seems to minimize the appearance of my pores which is another big concern of mine.

Pros:
Price
No smell
Controls oil and shine

Cons:
Can leave white residue if you apply to much

Where to buy:
Drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, Rite aid, Walmart)

Price:
It will range from $4-$6

What it does:
Reduces shine on your face throughout the day and keeps your skin and makeup matte.

Rating:
4.5 / 5

How I apply:
After I wash my face and apply my toner I shake the bottle up and apply a small amount to a cotton pad and apply to my skin. Once I let it dry I apply my makeup and I'm out the door.

Have you tried this product? What are some oil control products that you love?

June 2011 Favorites

Heyyy Beauty Lovers!!! I know I have been M.I.A. for a minute but I'm back and what better way to come back than with my June Favorites. I can't believe that this month is almost over already but at the same time I'm excited because I move the middle of July. But anyway but to the fave's so I have been trying out a lot of new products and I would like to share them with you. Now a lot of these products will have reviews coming up soon so stay tuned for a more in-depth review if you are interested in any of the products. So without futher aduei here are my June Favorites.

From left to right: Wet n Wild Blush (berry shimmer), MAC Wonder Women lipgloss in Athena's Kiss, Cover Girl lipstick in Spellbound, ElF kabuki, Urban Decay Naked Palette, MAC MSF in Deep Dark, Phillips Milk of Magnesia, Makeupforever HD foundation #178, Beauty Blender sponge, Benefit POREfessional, Elf mist setting spray, Viva La Juicy sample perfume.

1) Wet n Wild Blush in Berry Shimmer- This is such an amazing blush it is extra pigmented and a beautiful color for the summer. I have been using this almost everyday.

2) MaC Wonder Women lipgloss in Athena's Kiss and Covergirl lipstick in Spellbound- These two products together are so beautiful. I love the color and it is perfect if you are going for a bold lip which I have been exploring lately.

left: Spellbound with Athena's Kiss
Right: Berry Shimmer Blush

3) Elf Kabuki- This brush was so afforable (only $5) but it is so dense and perfect for applying powder

4) U.D. Naked Palette- Ok I know you have probably seen this in everyone's favorites, but it truly is an amazing product. I have taken this palette with me to travel and it has been all I need.

5) MAC MSF in Deep Dark- I bought this a while back and never really used it but I kept seeing reviews and decided to pick it back up and I'm glad I did. It is perfect coverage for the summer when you don't want to wear a lot of makeup.

6) Phillips Milk of Magnesia (click here for review) - This is my HG oil control primer. I started doing research about a month ago on a product that would control my oil once and for all and this seems to be doing the trick very well. I really love this product and will be using it forever or until I find something better.

7) Makeup Forever HD Foundation (178)- I hauled this product last month and I have been using it and loving it ever since. This foundation gives perfect coverage for me does not look cakey and stays on all day. I would consider this a full coverage foundation. While it is a little on the pricey side ($40) a little goes a long way and it is well worth it.

8) Beauty Blender Sponge- (click here to see my official review) This is an amazing product and it really does create a flawless airbrush face. I haven't picked up my foundation brushes since.

9) Benefit POREfessional- (Review Coming Soon) This is another one of my HG products. I saw this on YouTube while I was searching for ways to minimize the appearance of my pores. I decided not to get it because I saw mixed reviews and did not want to invest the $28 into a product that I might not like.  I recently came across a felleow bloggers review on it and it sold me. (check out here channel herer) While this product does not totally erase your pores it does a good job at minimizing them.

10) Elf Mist and Set Spray- (Review Coming Soon!) This spray is TheBomb.com when I spray this after my makeup I know that it will not smudge or run thoughout the day. It holds my makeuup in place and is very good for touch ups.

11) Viva La Juicy- This perfume has the most amazing smell and the sample has convinced me to invest in the full size bottle.

I hope you guys have enjoyed my favorites for the month. What are some of your favorite products? Do you like any of these products?

Review Time ~ Beauty Blender Sponge

Hey beauty lovers, it's been a couple of days since I last posted something. Sorry I have been feeling really lazy, in between the gloomy weather and not getting a lot of sleep that tends to happen. But I'm back with a review on a product that I have been using and LOVIN' for a while. You first saw me haul this product in May and I have been using it non-stop since. So lets get into the review on the Beauty Blender Sponge.

I purchased this sponge at Target for $9.99. The reason I bought it was because I saw a lot of reviews where people stated that the sponge gave an airbrush finish and I was looking for a tool to do that for me. On the site it says:

"The perfect sponge to access hard to reach areas- apply, blend, smudge and pat your way to perfection. Recyclable and biodegradable"

How I use it:
I fill a bowl with water and let the sponge soak for a little while. You will notice that the sponge will inflate in size. I ring out all excess water and dabb the sponge into the foundation and onto my face until it all blends evenly. (I will have a video on this soon)

Pros:
I love the blue or pink color (depending on where you purchase it)
Easy to clean
Affordable
User friendly

Cons:
Size, it might take a while to do your whole face
The price if you get it from Sephora or another place.

Overview:
Product: 4/5
Packaging: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

Where to Purchase:
Target Sonia Kasuk $9.99
Sephora $19.95-$40.00
Purelycosmetics.com $19.99

Thanks for checking out my review! What are your thoughts on this product? Would you like to see a comparison (if any) between the sephora one and the Sonia Kasuk one?

Revlon lip gloss in orchids- this is a shimmery gloss with very sheer coverage.

Coastal Scents Kabuki brush- love this brush for apply powder products

Rimmel lip gloss (clear)- perfect gloss for any occasion when you don't want to wear any color

Hey beauty lovers! I want to share with you some new pigments that I picked up and that I am LOVIN'!!!! As you know I did a haul and review not to long along and I found myself with a cart full during their Memorial Day Sale. Of course I scaled my cart down to a reasonable amount so let me show you what I got!!

colors no flash: (left to right): Summer Loven, Smurf, Ninja Turtle, Skinny Dip, Pearl Neck, Caution
Top: Dry Swatch
Bottom: Wet Swatch

As you can tell by the swatches, these colors are truly pigmented and very vibrant colors. There seems to be no real difference between the dry swatch and wet swatch so either way you will get good color payoff. I'm in love with this company I am working towards owning the WHOLE collection! With that being said lets get into the pros and cons.

Pros:
Very Pigmented
Affordable
Color Variety
Lasting Power

Cons:
There are none

If you would like to see any looks with these pigments leave me a comment and I will be sure to do it.

So I did a bright yellows and black eye which I got a lot of compliments on and will do a tutorial on later. Check out the pictures!

To P10P or not To P10P?

Hey beauty lovers! I'm so glad it's Wednesday... just because I love my weekends! So I just wanted to share some thoughts with you all  and see how you guys feel and if you have any suggestions or advise. I've really been thinking about doing the project 10 pan but I havent seen to many people that have actually completed it! (I mean it is really hard to ban yourself from buying something that your addicted to... this sort of makes me realize how hard it is to break an addiction) So my question to you is have you tried going on the project 10 pan? what were some things that helped/ hindered  you from  completing  it?  I really want to do this because I have so much makeup and I know I cant get to all of it but its easier said than done. What should I do?  HELP!!!!

NYX 12th Anniversary Sale Haul

Hey Beauty lovers, I hope everyone is having a great weekend and loving the weather. It was 90 degrees where I live today and I was out in the sun for awhile bakin' (not my idea of a good time), but never the less I had a pretty good day.

Anyway lets get to this post! I received my NYX package in the mail a couple of days ago from the 12th Anniversary Sale. I'm sure you all know about the FIASCO that happened that day so I  don't have to get into it but lets  just I was not a happy camper! They did however makeup by giving us 50% off and free shipping (its not as good as $1.20 but it will do). Any who lets get into the goodies.

I've seen a lot of You Tubers using this product before they apply their eyeshadow and I wanted to give it a try.
What it Claims: Maximize the intensity, longevity and unashamed brilliance of your eye shadow statements with our eye shadow primer pots. Each of the three NYX Eye Shadow Bases—for vibrant, pearl or neutral tones—creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.

I have been wanting this blush in Cinnamon forever and I felt this was the best time to buy it. I heard that this blush can be a little powdery and lack color on dark tones so I also bought the cream blush also.

I initially purchased these Glitter Cream Palettes because I thought that they could be used as a eyeliner, however I'm not quite sure if this will actually work! I will let you know how this works out!

Soft matte Lip Cream- This is a fairly new product and I've been hearing lots of raves so I had to try them for myself.
What it Claims: Neither lipstick nor lip gloss—this is matte lip cream. A new kind of pout paint that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.

Nyx Lip Liners- Orange, Currant, Blossom, Deep Purple. I love NYX liners I bought a few more, almost have a complete collection.

Have you tired any of these products?
Are there any you would recommend I try?
Want to see reviews or swatch?

Review | Urban Decay Roller Girl Palette

Hey beauty lovers, I hope you all are doing fabulous! I'm back to do a review on the Urban Decay Roller Girl Palette, that I featured in my last haul post. This palette can be purchased at Sephora or UrbanDecay.com and retails for $32.00. I was very excited to get this palette but at the same time I was kind of skeptical. I love the packaging which is a plus and the fact that it actually featured a WOC, however I saw some colors that I had in previous palettes and didn't know if it would be worth it. So I took a chance and bought it, and let me tell you I'M GLAD I DID!!! Let me get into some of the details of this palette. This palette comes with four eye shadow colors (Woodstock, Verve, Suspects, Darkhorse) One mini lip gloss (Crush) and one 24/7 glide on pencil in (Whiskey). This palette is a nice change from your typical one which contain only the zero pencil or a mini primer potion.

So lets get into the review of the eye shadows! I must say that I love each and every color here. Although there are some dupes from other palettes (darkhorse is in the naked palette and suspect is in the New York  palette) these colors are so beautiful I don't mind having backups. They are very pigmented with long lasting power.

From L to R (Woodstock, Verve, Suspect, Darkhorse)

No Flash

As for the lip gloss when I first put it on it felt sticky (which I hate my lip glosses to be) however I did like the fact that it smelled and sort of tasted like mint. (yeah so what I tasted the lip gloss lol). The lip gloss was very opaque which I expected more color.  The question of would I  purchase a full size lip gloss would probably be followed by a No. Reason being I don't find it necessary to pay $19.00 for a sticky lip gloss

As for the 24/7 glide on pencil... well do I have to say it.... A must have in all colors. The formula is so creamy and glides on to your eye so effortlessly who wouldn't want to buy one.
Rating:
Product 8/10
Pigmentation 8/10
Longevity: 9/10
Packaging 4.5/5

My overall thoughts are that I'm glad I bought this palette and I would recommend it. Let me know if you have this palette or would like to see some FOTD posts with this palette.
